Acupuncture Services

Acupuncture is an ancient practice rooted in traditional Chinese medicine that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body. It aims to balance the flow of energy, or qi, to stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities. Widely recognized for reducing chronic pain, acupuncture also helps alleviate conditions such as migraines, stress, and inflammation. This minimally invasive treatment enhances circulation, promotes relaxation, and supports overall wellness by addressing both physical and emotional imbalances. Often used in conjunction with modern medical treatments, acupuncture offers a holistic approach to improving health and restoring balance naturally. It is a safe, effective therapy.

Discover the Synergy of Chiropractic and Acupuncture at Our Clinic

At our clinic, we believe that true healing comes from addressing the body as an integrated whole. That's why we are proud to offer acupuncture services alongside our established chiropractic care. By combining these two powerful treatment modalities, we create a comprehensive approach designed to relieve pain, restore balance, and improve your overall wellness.

A Holistic Approach to Healing

Our integrated model brings together the science of chiropractic adjustments with the ancient art of acupuncture. Chiropractic care focuses on restoring proper alignment and function to your musculoskeletal system, particularly your spine. This realignment can reduce nerve irritation, improve mobility, and promote natural healing processes. Acupuncture, on the other hand, is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and involves stimulating specific points on the body to enhance the flow of energy, or “qi.” This stimulation not only alleviates pain but also supports your body's intrinsic healing mechanisms.

When these two treatments work together, they complement each other in remarkable ways. While chiropractic adjustments correct structural imbalances, acupuncture targets the body’s energy pathways, reducing inflammation and promoting relaxation. The combined approach can help break the cycle of pain and dysfunction, offering lasting relief and enhanced wellbeing.

How Acupuncture Enhances Chiropractic Care

Acupuncture can be particularly effective in addressing the side effects and symptoms that sometimes accompany musculoskeletal issues. Many of our patients experience reduced muscle tension, improved circulation, and a decrease in chronic pain after a series of acupuncture sessions. These benefits support the adjustments made during chiropractic treatments by:

  • Reducing Inflammation: Acupuncture helps to decrease inflammation, which can ease discomfort and accelerate the healing process following chiropractic adjustments.
  • Enhancing Nervous System Function: By stimulating specific acupuncture points, our treatments may help regulate the nervous system, reducing stress and promoting a sense of calm that enhances overall recovery.
  • Boosting Energy and Vitality: The restoration of balanced energy flow supports your body’s natural healing responses, often leading to increased vitality and improved overall health.

About Acupuncture Needles

Acupuncture needles are one of the most misunderstood parts of the treatment—but in reality, they are extremely refined, precise medical instruments designed for comfort, safety, and therapeutic effect.

What They Are Made Of

Modern acupuncture needles are:

  • Made from surgical-grade stainless steel
  • Single-use and sterile (individually packaged)
  • Designed to be flexible and ultra-thin

Most have a small coiled handle (often copper or steel) that allows precise control during insertion and, in some cases, can be used for gentle electrical stimulation.

How Thin Are They?

compare sizes

This is one of the biggest surprises for patients.

  • Typical acupuncture needle: 0.12–0.30 mm in diameter
  • Typical hypodermic (injection) needle: 0.70–1.20 mm or larger

That means acupuncture needles are often 5–10 times thinner than a standard injection needle.

Also important:

  • Acupuncture needles are solid, not hollow
  • They are not designed to inject anything—only to stimulate tissue

Because of this, most patients feel little to no discomfort on insertion.

What Do They Feel Like?

From a patient perspective, the sensation is very different from a shot:

  • Often described as barely noticeable going in
  • May feel a brief tingle, dull ache, or pressure
  • Sometimes produces a warm, heavy, or spreading sensation

In chiropractic-acupuncture integration, these sensations often correlate with:

  • Muscle relaxation
  • Reduced nerve irritation
  • Improved local circulation

Depth and Placement

Needles are inserted at specific anatomical points, and depth varies depending on:

  • The treatment area (e.g., superficial vs deeper muscle)
  • The condition being treated
  • The patient’s body type

Depth can range from just a few millimeters to deeper placements into muscle tissue—but always within safe, trained parameters.

Safety and Regulation

Modern acupuncture needles are:

  • FDA-regulated (U.S.) as medical devices
  • Required to be sterile and disposable
  • Used only by trained professionals

When performed properly, acupuncture has a very low risk profile.

From a Chiropractic Perspective

In a chiropractic setting, acupuncture needles are not just “traditional tools”—they are used as a neurological input device.

They help:

  • Modulate pain signals
  • Relax hypertonic muscles
  • Improve tissue healing response

Think of them as a way to “communicate” with the nervous system at a very precise level—complementing the mechanical correction achieved through adjustments.
